A 25-year old woman was stabbed to death while she was trying to resist a snatching bid in northwest Delhi on Saturday, police said.
The incident, which was captured on CCTV camera, was reported in Delhi's Adarsh Nagar locality.
The woman, identified as Simran, was holding her child, when one man approached her from behind to snatch away the chain.
Simran was stabbed to death with a knife when she tried to resist.
This is not the first case of chain snatching that has been reported from the area.
A case has been registered and a probe is underway, police said.
According to news agency ANI, residents of the locality have alleged that multiple incidents of snatching have taken place in the area in the past few months, however, the police have not taken any stringent measure to intensify patrolling.
In November last year, two youths were stabbed by a group of unidentified men in broad daylight on a busy road of the national capital’s Adarsh Nagar area.
