The latest schedule of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan has come to an end. Costume designer Eka Lakhani took to Instagram to share a picture of her team with director Mani Ratnam and shared the news with the world. The shooting took place at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad where huge sets have been erected for the film. According to Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan will be made in two parts.

As reported earlier, Ponniyin Selvan is a period drama based on Kalki Krishnamoorthy's Tamil novel of the same name. Costume designer Eka Lakhani shared a photo of her team with Mani Ratnam and revealed that they pulled off a 'monster' schedule during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sharing the photo, Eka Lakhani wrote, "And one of the team with big boss himself! #ManiSir. Wrapping this monster of a sched with a full heart... Phew!!! Can’t believe we pulled this off in the COVID time.Thank you for all the support my girls! You guys kicked ass! Missing in the pic CK, our backbone and UB, our oxygen! Now for some sleep, spa time and lots of champagne! (sic)."

Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan has an ensemble cast including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Prabhu among others. The film has music composed by AR Rahman and it is reported that there will be 12 songs in the album.
The latest development suggests that Shalini Ajith may make her comeback with Ponniyin Selvan. Rumour has it that she will play a cameo in the film. An official announcement on the same is yet to be made.
