Price of Covid vaccine capped at Rs 250 per dose in private hospitals

NEW DELHI: The government on Saturday capped the price of Covid vaccines at private hospitals at Rs 250 per dose.
This is inclusive of Rs 100 as service charge, according to central government sources.
"The cost of the Covid-19 vaccine has been kept Rs 250 per dose, includes Rs 150 is a vaccine charge plus Rs 100 as a service charge," a government official said. This arrangement will remain effective till further orders.
The vaccine will be administered free of cost at government hospitals.
The beneficiary will have to show a photo ID document for proof of age and a certificate of co-morbidity if required.
The health ministry has listed 20 co-morbidities for people within the 45-59 years age group to be eligible for vaccination in the next round to start from March 1.
So far, 77% of health care workers have been administered with the first dose and 70% got the second dose, said Rajesh Bhushan, secretary in the ministry of health.
