Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their roles as the senior British Royal family members in January 2020. Since then, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved to Los Angeles in the US with their son Archie.
PRINCE HARRY REVEALS ALL ON JAMES CORDEN SHOW
In a recent appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, the Royal has revealed that he did so because the British press was "destroying" his mental health.
In the rare interview, Prince Harry discussed his move to get away from London, why he decided to take his family away and that he preferred the depiction of Royal life seen on the Netflix show "The Crown" to the one published in newspapers.
"We all know what the British press can be like, and it was destroying my mental health. I was like, this is toxic. So, I did what any husband and what any father would do," he told James Corden.
The Duke also talked about the family's life in Los Angeles and how it won't be very different from the work they were doing back in the UK. He said, "(It will be) a slightly different version, but a continuation, of what we were doing back in the UK anyway. My life is always going to be about public service, and Meghan signed up to that, and the two of us enjoy doing that. It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment."
He also talked about the popular drama The Crown on the James Corden show and said, "I'm way more comfortable with 'The Crown' than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife or myself."
He added, "They don't pretend to be news, it's fictional. But it's loosely based on the truth. Of course, it's not strictly accurate, but it gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that."
During the show, Corden also video-called Meghan on Harry's phone to jokingly suggest the pair move in to the house from the show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. To that Meghan replies, "I think we've done enough moving." She also dropped her nickname for her husband, "Haz."
On Archie's first word, Harry revealed that his son's first word was "Crocodile."
The Duke's interview comes days before he and Meghan sit down for a prime-time interview with Oprah Winfrey.
