Paris Saint-Germain are confident that their star striker Kylian Mbappe will extend contract at the end of the Ligue 1 season. Mbappe's contract with PSG ends in June next year but Spanish giants Real Madrid tried to sign the French star in the recently-concluded summer transfer window.

With the arrival of Lionel Messi from Barcelona, PSG have a feared forward line of the Argentina striker, Mbappe and Neymar. However, PSG were in danger of losing the World Cup winner to Real Madrid. PSG deemed the offer from Real too low, saying Mbappe is worth more than what the La Liga giants were able to quote.

"The fact that he's staying, that was the only thing that could happen. We never thought about doing all this without Kylian. We were not happy with the behaviour of Real Madrid," sports director of PSG, Leonardo, told Canal Plus.

"We were clear about the offer they made. It was not enough from our point of view. It was less than what we paid. As for their last offer, it never arrived."

Mbappe has been in great form this season and is expected to start Wednesday's Champions League game at Club Brugge alongside Messi and Neymar.

"I don't see Kylian leaving at the end of this season. Mbappe's relationship with PSG is deep. I don't think anyone here sees the future without him," added Leonardo.
