Rahul Gandhi says BJP, RSS brokers of religion, not Hindus; BJP hits back

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP-RSS and said that they were "fake Hindus" who use religion for their benefit. Rahul Gandhi added that the BJP and RSS have diminished the powers of Goddess Lakshmi and Durga.

Addressing the foundation day of the All India Mahila Congress here, Gandhi said that the ideology of the Congress was completely opposite of the BJP-RSS and only one of the two ideologies can rule the country.

Rahul Gandhi said that Goddess Lakshmi stands for the power that helps one attain one's goals and Goddess Durga stands for the power that protects, adding that while the Congress party had strengthened these powers when in government, the BJP has diminished them.

"Ye kis prakar ke Hindu hain. Ye jhoote Hindu hain. Ye Hindu dharm ka prayog karte hain, ye dharm ki dalali karte hain, magar ye Hindu nahin hain [What kind of Hindus are they? They are fake Hindus. They use Hindu religion, they are brokers of religion, but they are not Hindus]," Rahul Gandhi said.

BJP's Sambit Patra, meanwhile, hit back at the Congress leader and said he is the same Rahul Gandhi who used "Khoon ki dalali words for brave jawans."

"Now he is using Hindu deities, which is insulting. He should apologise for this," Sambit Patra said.
